Tyler Wynn, Founder & Chief Investment Officer

Tyler Wynn is the founding principal of Birch Creek and has over 15 years of experience in the capital markets, the majority of which has been centered on trading and portfolio management of mortgage-backed securities, structured products and municipal & tax-exempt bonds. Prior to founding Birch Creek, Tyler was a Director at Strategos Capital Management, LLC, a Philadelphia- based asset management group specializing in the structured credit and residential mortgage-backed securities.

Prior to Strategos, Tyler began his career on the convertible arbitrage and high yield desk at Susquehanna International Group, LLP, a large privately-held proprietary trading firm in Bala Cynwyd, PA. He is a graduate of Bucknell University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a concentration in finance.

Tyler is also the President of Wynnstay Foundation, a family foundation he created in 2009 with the mission to help individuals and families in need throughout the Philadelphia area. Wynnstay partners with various non-profits through volunteering and financial support.

Wade Vandegrift, Chief Credit Officer

Wade Vandegrift, a principal with Birch Creek, has spent the majority of his career investing in and advising clients in connection with various fixed income and equity asset classes.  In 2008, Wade co-founded Red Pine Advisors, which became the leading provider of illiquid fixed income valuation & consulting services to financial institutions like banks, insurance companies and hedge funds.  In 2010, Wade and his co-founders sold Red Pine to Houlihan Lokey, a Los Angeles-based investment bank.

Prior to forming Red Pine, Wade was a Managing Director at Taberna Capital Management, a mortgage REIT active in a variety of real estate and structured credit asset classes.  Taberna was the leading provider of corporate-level unsecured debt capital to REITs and other real estate companies in the form of trust preferred securities and subordinated notes.  When Taberna sold itself to RAIT Financial Trust (NYSE: RAS) in 2006, Wade became a managing director at RAIT, where he originated and underwrote similar investment opportunities.  He is a graduate of University Of Pennsylvania. 

Nathan Clark, CFA - Credit Analyst

Nate Clark joined Birch Creek as a Credit Analyst and is responsible for credit research, financial analysis / modeling, and portfolio and market surveillance.  Prior to joining Birch Creek, Nate was a Senior Analyst at Murray Devine.  At Murray Devine, his focus was on financial analysis, research, and due diligence relating to debt and equity valuations for investments owned by business development companies, private debt and equity funds, and funds of funds.

Prior to Murray Devine, Nate was a corporate finance analyst at Sunoco Logistics Partners L.P.  He managed daily liquidity through its commercial paper program and worked closely with the investor relations group.  Nate received a Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Temple University.  He is a CFA charterholder.

David has over 15 years of business development and capital markets experience, predominantly in the municipal bonds and public finance space.  He has an extensive background originating, underwriting and distributing municipal bonds for a variety of public finance issuers.  Prior to joining Birch Creek, David was the Director of Business Development at March Altus Capital Management.

From 2008 to 2014, David was a Managing Director at Mesirow Financial Inc., where he led the municipal underwriting desk.  Prior to Mesirow Financial, David was a senior member on the municipal underwriting desk at Bear Stearns & Co. Inc.  David began his career at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Inc. as a Financial Analyst in the Prime Brokerage Sales group.  He is a 2000 graduate of Bucknell University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Finance.
